Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara | Beauty

Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara

Hypnose Drama Mascara

Yep, we have another Lancome Mascara post today. If you have read my beauty post last week I was talking all about the Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes mascara and you'll know that whilst I liked it it didn't give me enough impact. Well today we are talking about the Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara, now this sounds a bit of me doesn't it?

As you can see from the picture, the Hypnose Drama mascara has quite an unusual brush in the sense it has this kind of weird curve to it. I'm not gonna lie, it took me a while to get used to it. I have used similar brushes before like the Benefit Roller Lash which has quite a curve to it but the Hypnose Drama one is a bit different. Plus it isn't just a plastic brush, it does have bristles too so the first few times of using it I wasn't really a fan. This said, I am not a quitter when it comes to beauty products, so I bloody cracked on with it, plus at like £24.00 it's hardly the cheapest thing.

Personally, I think the thing that doesn't help with this product is that the little rubber ring thing that is used to remove some excess product isn't great for this brush, because is the weird curve it's probably a little wider than what it could be which means it goes on heavy on the lashes. When I remove some of the excess on the top of the tube, it actually makes for a much easier application then we are working with something I really love. Hypnose Drama is very different to the Doll Eyes mascara, it really coats the lashes and gives it the volume and drama I so desperately need, it really fans my lashes out as well so actually it's pretty good.

I will point out that it doesn't wear as well as it''s counterpart, I find it crumbles quite easily and you get a little rubbing of the product underneath the low lash line which is really odd because I never put mascara on my lower lash line anyway so it's fractionally annoying! This said, other than that I really like this mascara but I doubt I would purchase it again! I think I'm gonna opt for something more purse friendly and see what the high street is saying these days.

What are your mascara recommendations?

Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara | Beauty

Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara

Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara

Beauty is well and truly BACK on the blog and today we are having a bit of a chat about this Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara! Now, guys, you know me, I am all about the eyes I have said this so many times but I believe if eyes are the window to the soul they should always be dressed accordingly! You will never see me leave my house without at least wearing mascara, ever! I fell in love with the Urban Decay Perversion mascara last year and it was only when I was on the Ferry back to the UK that I spotted the Lancome mascaras in duty free, Doll Eyes actually comes with another one which I will be reviewing next week so just hold out for that.

I have never used any Lancome make up products but I have used a beauty product in the past and I have a solid opinion of the brand but it just isn't something I would frequently go to buy from. In terms of design as you can see the bottle is very simplistic and doesn't actually give you a lot of information as to what kind of product it is, however I think that's because the name says it all...Doll Eyes. This mascara is very different to what I am used to, there are a lot of very straight bristles and the brush tapers to a point. This means that as you apply the brush grabs each lash and evenly distributes the product on it leaving you with very delicate and fluttery doll like eye lashes. I really love that the brush does have a point  because it means you can reach all of the corner lashes.

I do like this mascara but it doesn't give me another drama on my eye lashes, you can't really build it up for impact which I'm not that surprised about because it does give you Doll Eyes but I like my lashes to look thicker. It gives them a great lift and length and really  coats each lash but it definitely doesn't add the thickness and volume I want. I do wait for the first layer to dry and then add another but you can't add much more otherwise it will just clump. I tend to use the Doll Eyes mascara when I am keeping my make up quite simple.

Overall, I like it but I'm not in love with this one!

Have you tried any of the Lancome mascaras before?

Urban Decay - Perversion | Beauty

This came in my Naked On The Run palette, I have never tried Urban Decay Perversion before but I've actually heard quite a lot of good things about it. Technically it's more of a travel/sample sized product to fit in the palette but I think that's really great because I can try it out see if I love it and if I do I can buy it.

I actually quite like the brush on this mascara, I haven't used a fluffy brush like this in quite some time, I always use the plastic bristled brushes.

When I first applied Perversion I was quite shocked at how much I liked it, I expected it to make my eyelashes clump together like most of these type of brushes do. But I found that this mascara actually did a really good job of separating my lashes, and I mean each individual lash. When I was done with the first coat I loved at how voluminous my lashes looked but for me they didn't have that "wow" factor that I always go for. It was only when I applied the second coat after the first coat drying that really gave me some impact. This product's tag line is "Bigger. Blacker. Badder" lashes and you know what I have to agree.

I'm quite fortunate because I have long eyelashes anyway so can wear most mascaras, I think if your eyelashes need a bit more curl I don't think this would work as well for you.

I find with some mascaras after two coats of the product my eyelashes are pretty stiff because they are coated in the product but what I found with Perversion is that my eyelashes still remained quite soft, though they are perfectly coated in product and look amazing they aren't stiff and hard when you touch them. It's a great lightweight product.

I really actually love this Urban Decay Perversion mascara, so much so I'm even considering buying a full sized one. I love that the Naked On The Run palette is opening my eyes a little more to Urban Decay as a whole.

Have you tried Perversion?

Benefit Roller Lash | Beauty

I know what you're thinking ANOTHER post on Benefit's incredibly hyped up new mascara release but I love a freebie and why not?

I have a yearly subscription to Elle magazine, and when I saw everyone banging on about this I was very eager to receive my free sample. Benefit always run an incredibly good PR campaign with the release of a new product that has pretty much every blogger scrambling to get their hands on. We all remember the hype of the They're Real range. I was pretty honest with my thoughts on the They're Real Mascara, in fact I kinda hated it. It didn't separate my lashes, it didn't make them look longer or more volumous. The mascara literally did nothing for me, so with the Roller Lash release I was a little apprehensive.

However, I actually really like this product. I know, I was shocked too. First things first, I love the packaging, this one is more "me", even down to the font they use. Love it. But also I absolutely love the brush too. The shape is quite different to what I am used to you can see in the picture that it does have a curve to it, which has first I found it a little tricky knowing which side to use but you get the hang of it really quickly. I think it's supposed to replicate the curve of a hair curler/roller.

Right from the first swipe, my lashes looked incredibly long and it really does open up my eyes. You actually get quite a lot of product on the wand so you don't even need numerous coats to get the desired effect.  Though I will say I think it gives possibly a little too much product on the wander but actually I don't know whether this is just with the sample size, maybe the full sized product has a better stopper.

Overall, I actually really like Roller Lash, I'm fiercely loyal to my Volume Million Lashes but this is actually a very serious contender now.

Volume Million Lashes Comparison | Beauty

You may have read my previous post about my love for L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes
where I literally waffle on about how much I love this mascara. I have been buying this mascara for literally years, ever since it first came out.

But when I was in Boots recently I thought I would try out the Volume Million Lashes So Couture version, I wanted to see whether there was actually a big difference between the two.

My Noir Excess one does look a little battered but hey, I did need a new one, but I kinda like the purple and gold colours of So Couture though. I must admit I didn't really know what to expect, I thought that they would be either exactly the same or completely different. The first thing I noticed was that the So Couture brush was so much smaller than my Noir Excess brush.

Noir Excess

So Couture

You can see that not only are they two different lengths but they are two different shapes, the Noir Excess one seems to taper in a little about mid way down the brush where at the So Courture one is more of an arrow headed shape. I've got to be honest, I really don't like the brush as much as the Noir Excess one. Though So Couture has a very tapered tip which means you can really get into the corners of your eyelashes I just felt like I didn't really like the way it applied the mascara over my lashes.

I love the drama round my eyes, my lashes make a statement, they are quite long but I just feel that So Couture doesn't leave my lashes with a POW that I have come to expect from Noir Excess. I believe that the formula may be the same in both mascaras but So Couture is a bit lack luster compared to what I'm used to.

If I focus on just the product and not compare it to Noir Excess I think it's still a really lovely mascara, the brush does mean you can reach all of your lashes and It does separate the lashes, you 'll have no clumps. It makes them look good in a more subtle way but if you want eyelashes that make a bold statement then I don't think this is the one for you.

Great product but I need high impact lashes, I'm going to stick with Noir Excess

Have you tried either of the L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara?

L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes | Review

One of my earliest posts was about how I do my eye make up which included L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara which you can find here . This month I had to repurchase, and it's something I have been repurchasing for at least a year...probably more, which led me to think I must write a post about this gorgeous mascara.

Trying to explain how much I love this mascara is pretty hard because there isn't a single thing I would change about it. I'm very particular about the way my eyes looks as I feel they are probably my best feature, so I have a set way that I like them to look always. I recently have started experimenting with eye shadows etc.

I never put mascara on my bottom lashes, ever! I just don't like they way it looks on my eye, I need the drama up top for my lashes

I love the formula of the L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes mascara, it really is great, I don't have very watery eyes so I don't use any waterproof mascaras but even if my eyes do water a bit I find that this is stays quite well if I pat my eyelashes afterward.

I get a lot of compliments on my eyelashes, I'm fortunate because I have fairly long eyelashes so I have just to make sure the mascara I use is black and dramatic enough to make them stand out because I do have very fair eyelashes. People has asked what mascara I use because my lashes look separated and defined, which leads me onto my second reason why I love this mascara...The Brush!

Size definitely matters.

It's a massive brush which means you can get all of your corner lashes which enhances the volume. Another amazing thing about this brush is the way that it separates each individual lash, no big thick spidery lashes for me.

I have tried the Benefit's They're Real Lashes and I don't even think that comes close to my L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes, it just makes my lashes stand out so much more than any other mascara I've tried. It's one of those mascaras I will continue to purchase until they stop selling it and then I'll have a mild breakdown!

My eye essentials

To give you an idea on my make up regime, I think it's rare you'll get to see my entire face so I think it's best to focus on areas of my face. Today I'm going to focus on my best feature...my eyes

My eye essentials consist of these 4 things above, nothing more, nothing less.

•Eyelash Curler from superdrug
•L'Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes mascara (Black Excess)
•L'Oreal Paris Superliner liquid eyeliner
•Rimmel pencil eyeliner

The naked eye...

Now you will see that I have a fair complexion and my eyelashes are pretty non-existent and let's face it, my eyes are pretty bug eyed so I always have to wear make up to make them look just a little normal.

But once I put make up on you will see, I actually have pretty long eyelashes if I don't put on mascara you'd never be able to tell.

The dressed to impress eye...

Step by step

1. Use eyelash curlers to gently curl the eyelashes into shape.

2. Use liquid eyeliner on the top lid, starting with a thinner line at the corner then gradually making it thicker towards the outer edge.

3. Use the eyelash curlers once more.

4. Add mascara, my technique for this is to blink it on, I think it gives a better all around coverage

5. Add pencil eyeliner to the lower lid and we're done!

Two things I never do...

1. I never use eyelash curlers on my eyelashes once they have mascara on them. I think it could be quite damaging to the eye lash because it could make them stick to the actual curler so when you release it, it'll pull or tug on the lashes.

2. I never put mascara on my bottom eyelashes, this is just personal preference, I like having all the drama up top.

Just remember if eyes are the window to your soul then shouldn't they always be dressed accordingly?
